Chains=ch or Chs
space= sp or sps
skip=sk
Double crochet= dc
begin/ning=beg
half double crochet= hdc

Row 1- Ch 17, Sk 5 chs, 1dc in each of next 6 chs, ch3, dc in next 6 chs, ch5 join to 1st beg ch.

Row 2- Ch 2, DO NOT TURN, pattern worked on right side only.(ch2 counts as first dc )
Dc in next 3 spaces (work over beginning thread ) , Sk 4 dc, dc in next 4 sp, 9dc in ch 5 loop,
dc in next 6 sps, 2 dc, ch3, 2dc (in ch 3space) Dc in next 6 spaces, 9 dc in ch 5 loop, join.

Row 3- Ch2, 1dc in next dc, skip 4 dcs, dc around side of heart, doubling when needed. EXAMPLE=1dc in 3spaces, 2dc in each of next 9 spaces,1dc in next 7 spaces, 2 dc, ch3,2dc in point (ch 3 space) 1dc in next 9 spaces, 1 dc in next space join to top of ch 2 space.

Row 4-(Original pattern) ch1 hdc in each space around, doubling when needed.
Join to beg. finish. Add string to hang.

Row 4- (alternate ending c/o Beth) Ch 1, hdc in next space, ch 20 (or 30 for longer) join with slip stitch to top of first hdc, hdc around entire heart, doubling when needed, join to ch1 space at beg. finish.
